Kevin De Bruyne’s insipid passing numbers raise a lot of considerations and we have to wonder if the Manchester City star ever wondered if the Premier League record would be his in a world where José Mourinho put him to the best use at Chelsea “.

De Bruyne’s nine assists this season in the Premier League are nearly double those of his nearest rivals Arsenal’s Bernardo Silva and Bukayo Saka, giving him 95 career assists. It’s fifth in history with Dennis Bergkamp 71 years behind record holder Ryan Giggs.

The 31-year-old Belgian star moved to Chelsea from Werder Bremen at the age of 22 and scored just 425 goals in half a season before being transferred to Wolfsburg. Back in the Bundesliga, De Bruyne provided six assists the rest of the way before scoring 21 goals the following season to prepare for a move to Manchester City.

Since then, he has been Premier League Playmaker of the Season twice, including in 2019/20 with 20 assists, and is close to doing so three out of six. Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard also received the award, which is only five years old.

De Bruyne also led the Premier League in assists in 2016/17, a year before the championship, but the name is on the line.

His stats hint that there’s more to come, as “KDB” creates a tasteless 3.77 chances per 90 minutes. After a season in which he scored 15 times and had eight assists, De Bruyne is once again taunting anyone who dares harass him in terms of goal setting (some guy named Erling Haaland helps…).

Take a look at De Bruyne’s brilliant stats and read on to find out who’s chasing him on the Premier League assists leaderboard for the 2022-23 season.

Manchester United will play Barcelona as the Spanish giants were eliminated from the Champions League and the Red Devils finished second in their Europa League group. Juventus, Ajax, RB Salzburg and Sporting Lisbon have been given very tough assignments in the Europa League playoffs to reach the round of 16.

Arsenal reached the round of 16 of the Europa League after winning their Europa League group, so Mikel Arteta’s team will be looking forward to it.

West Ham United are gearing up for the UEFA Conference League play-offs, where any of 16 teams can play, who will first have to compete in the play-off rounds. Some dangerous teams have been relegated from the Europa League to the Conference League, with Lazio now among the favourites.
