LIVE STREAM Arsenal v Manchester United

The Gunners continue to play as Mikel Arteta’s youths easily beat arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur last time and extended their lead in the Premier League table. They look like they are having a great time and are enjoying being at the top of the table in the middle of the season. Now, will they be able to withstand this title rush and rush to the finish line?

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United lost out to Crystal Palace at the end of the week as they came close to winning 10 consecutive games in all competitions. United’s growth has been built on a solid defensive foundation and ETH has been turning its team around very well over a busy few months. They beat Arsenal at the start of the season and if they repeat that result they will no doubt be in the title race.

Key storylines and players in good shape to keep an eye on

Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, William Saliba and Aaron Ramsdale continue to excel and the backbone of the Arsenal team keeps them fit and charged. Even without Gabriel Jesus, they didn’t miss a beat, and Eddie Nketiah fit in perfectly. After that clash with United they have an FA Cup game and then a Premier League clash with Manchester City to settle but then a very easy run. Being top of the table at this stage is indeed well deserved and if United are beaten, many predict that the Gunners have one hand in the Premier League trophy.

United slipped midweek to Palace as a stunning stoppage-time free kick from Michael Olize robbed them of another victory. United have not been ruthless enough, but they are still way ahead of what everyone thought they would be this season. Marcus Rashford has been on a roll in recent weeks while Luke Shaw has been a revelation at centre-back, but he was at his usual left-back for a tasty fight with Saka. Bruno Fernandes has scored in consecutive matches and is leading an attacking group and Casemiro has been an exceptional player but he is suspended for this game which is a serious blow. Scott McTominay or Fred are expected to replace him in the squad along with Christian Eriksen in midfield.

Arsenal news, injuries, squad options

Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson are sidelined while Mohamed Elneni is hit. It is very likely that Mikel Arteta continues to produce the same starting lineup. Why the hell not?

Manchester United Team News, Injuries, Squad Options

Jadon Sancho, Diogo Dalot and Donny van de Beek were injured and Casemiro was suspended. Fred is likely to be in the starting XI while Anthony Martial is in doubt about injury, so maybe Wout Weghorst will come out on top again?

Who look like title contenders and/or favorites?

Nearly halfway through the 2022-23 season, Arsenal and Manchester City look head and shoulders above the rest, although Newcastle have no intention of leaving and Manchester United have entered the fray.

The Gunners will be busy during the title challenge as Erling Haaland continues to storm the Premier League with an almost unbelievable goalscoring record.

An uneven Tottenham Hotspur hangs in the battle for the top four, with Liverpool struggling to stay in the Champions League scrap. Chelsea have a lot of work to do, while Fulham and Brighton are oddly on the fringes and have great campaigns.

Who are the dropout candidates?

Everton, West Ham and Southampton currently occupy the relegation spots.

But Leicester, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Leeds were just a few points away from the bottom three after starting upside down.
