Ravens’ Jaylon Ferguson dies at 26: Linebacker was a third-round pick in 2019 NFL Draft

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson has died at the age of 26. command declared on Wednesday. Ferguson was drafted in the third round by the Ravens in 2019 and earned his way into the NFL by becoming a star player at Louisiana Tech. In three seasons with the Ravens, Ferguson made 67 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Ferguson was C-USA’s top defenseman in 2018 and received two first-team All-C-USA honors while setting school records and NCAA records for most layoffs.

After winning the 2018 Hawaii Bowl MVP award, the Louisiana native was selected 85th overall by the Ravens in the 2019 NFL Draft, spending three seasons in Baltimore and flirting with the city. The Ravens organization released the following statement following Ferguson’s death:

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson. He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and an infectious personality. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost too soon.”
