Baltimore Ravens quarterback coach James Urban has been paired with quarterback Lamar Jackson for several seasons. They created a special bond that played a big part in Jackson’s development throughout his NFL career.
Sometimes the player can read and hear from the media that can be distracting. Urban was asked about how good Jackson is at ignoring distractions when he’s on the driving range and at the sports complex, and the coach spoke about how the quarterback is a master at not worrying about outside noise.
“No, we have always had this mentality, when we come to this building, when you enter the doors of the “Castle” here in this beautiful building, we go to work. So, when we enter the field, it’s time to work. We don’t worry about external distractions. He is the master of it. He knows how to focus on the task at hand. So when we’re in meetings, that’s the task. Or when we’re on the field, that’s the challenge.”
One of Jackson’s best traits is his ability to ignore everything that doesn’t matter to the team. He is extremely focused on winning and securing the championship in the Ravens organization and will not let anything outside of the organization distract him or affect him in any negative way.
