Roger Goodell: “I don’t have the authority to remove” Daniel Snyder (but Goodell has the power to start the process)

During Wednesday’s hearing before the US House Committee on Oversight and Reform, Rep. Rashida Talib (D-Mich.) aggressively pressured Commissioner Roger Goodell over whether final action would be taken against Commands owner Daniel Snyder.

She bluntly asked Goodell if he would remove Snyder as owner.

“I don’t have the authority to remove him,” Goodell said.

He may not have the authority to remove Snyder, but Goodell does have the power to recommend that Snyder be removed. Goodell may activate processes that may result in deletion.

Here is the question that should have been asked. You won’t take it away. Will you initiate the procedure for his removal provided for by the Constitution and the Charter?

If Goodell hasn’t already done so, it’s hard to imagine when he will.
