Rory McIlroy wastes hot final-round start, will not end major drought at PGA

McIlroy started the last round in the South Hills almost two hours before night leader Mito Pereira and nine shots back. He started his play with a 15-foot number 2 birdie. He added another birdie on third, and the 25-footer on fourth made it three in a row before he moved five shots forward with the birdie. in number 5.

This will bring McIlroy as close as possible to winning his first major tournament since the 2014 PGA Championship.

He scared the sixth hole and played his last 13 holes at 2 over par. After the opening, 65 gave McIlroy an early lead, which he fought on days 2 and 3 with rounds 71-74.
