The veteran quarterback is battling four broken backs. according to Jay Glazer. The report notes that Winston is not in danger of further injury to his back, so he changes clothes on Sunday. However, Winston is in a lot of pain and the team gave him four different lasts to choose from for this match to try and protect him.

Winston was limited for a week of training due to this back injury and was initially listed as questionable on Friday, but has since been listed as active on Sunday morning.

The former No. 1 overall returned to the field in week one after missing the second half of the 2021 season with an ACL tear. Before he fell to that injury a year ago, he had New Orleans 5-2 early in the season. This year, he continued to keep the Saints in the winning column, rallying to defeat the Falcons in the first week. In that win, Winston completed 23 of 34 for 269 yards and two touchdowns. Much of that result came in the fourth quarter, when the team closed a 16-point gap.

Not only Winston was injured, but also running back star Alvin Kamara, who inactive for 2 weeks due to rib injury. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are also limping in this divisional game and won’t have the likes of Chris Godwin and Julio Jones.

New Orleans has dominated Tampa Bay for the past two years, having a 4-0 regular season record against the Buccaneers since Tom Brady arrived in Tampa. It seems that in order to go to the score 5:0, Winston will have to gut a serious pain.
