Fifteen of the world’s top 20 players will battle it out at the CJ Cup in South Carolina next week, the PGA Tour announced Friday.
World No. 1 Scotty Sheffler, No. 3 Rory McIlroy and No. 5 John Rahm will headline the tournament. Joining the trio are Justin Thomas (8), Colleen Morikawa (9), Matt Fitzpatrick (10), Victor Hovland (11), Sam Burns (12), Jordan Spieth (13), Tom Kim (15), Cameron Young. (16), Max Homa (17), Billy Horschel (18), Hideki Matsuyama (19) and Sungjae Im (20).
Ricky Fowler, who competes in the Zozo Championship over the weekend, will play on sponsor release along with Jason Day.
A total of 78 players will play at the Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina, vying for a $10.5 million prize pool, the second-highest prize pool on the fall schedule, just behind this week’s Zozo in Japan.
McIlroy will compete in his first Tour event since winning the Tour Championship and FedExCup in August. The Northern Irishman spent the last month in Europe playing on the DP World Tour, earning top five finishes at the BMW PGA Championship (T-2), DS Automobiles Italian Open (4) and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (T-4).
