Shakur Stevenson to vacate WBC and WBO titles after missing weight, will move up to 135 pounds

Shakur Stevenson finished boxing at 130 pounds.

Stevenson confirmed on Twitter Thursday that he will no longer compete in the 130-pound division, meaning he will be stripped of his WBC and WBO featherweight titles.

Competing in this weight class, he says, is simply unhealthy for the 25-year-old.

“I gave it my all,” Stevenson said. “I’ve been a pro all my career and gained weight, but my body can no longer weigh 130 pounds. My health should come first.”

On Thursday, Stevenson lost about 1.6 pounds ahead of his scheduled fight against Robson Conceição this weekend.
