A featherweight bout has been added to the UFC pay-per-view in April.
Several people familiar with the promotion’s plans have confirmed to MMA Fighting that a bout between Shayilan Nuerdanbike and Steve Garcia has been scheduled for UFC 287 on April 8 at a venue and location yet to be announced. According to sources, the card could take place in Brooklyn, New York or Miami.
After losing his Octagon debut to Joshua Culiabo in May 2021, Nuerdanbike quickly bounced back with three consecutive victories. At 28 years old, the Wolverine are looking to score their 40th pro win. In his most recent appearance, Nuerdanbike earned his first UFC finish against Darrick Minner at UFC Vegas 64 by scoring a first-round TKO – a moment for Nuerdanbike that was somewhat covered up due to the fight being investigated due to suspicious line movement. Minner has since been suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission and released by the UFC.
Since joining the UFC in 2020, Garcia has been on a winning and losing streak. After three promo fights in the lightweight division, Angry Machine moved up to featherweight to face Chase Hooper at UFC Vegas 63 in October and posted a brutal 92-second finish. Chase Hooper.
