Italian Yannick Sinner claimed his seventh career title on Sunday when he defeated Maxim Cressy, pitcher and volleyball player, 7-6 (7/3), 6-3 in the ATP final in Montpellier.
The 21-year-old Sinner, who reached the fourth round of the Australian Open last month, has won six of his seven tournament titles on hard courts. His other triumph came on clay in Umag.
Sinner would move up to number 14 in the world rankings, while Cressy, entering his fourth tour-level final, was looking to win his second ATP title.
The 25-year-old American, who defeated world No. 9 Holger Rune in the semi-finals, will enter the top 40 next week.
