“We have officially entered the process,” a spokesman for the founder and CEO of INEOS confirmed on Tuesday.
Interested parties must register their interest with the Raine Group, the bank in charge of selling the club to the Glazer family. In this way, potential buyers can carry out a due diligence of the club before submitting a formal application.
Offers will come in early next month and Manchester United could be sold by the end of the current season.
Earlier, Ratcliffe indicated that he was really interested in buying Manchester United, if only the club was put up for sale …
Ratcliffe, co-founder of British chemical company INEOS in 1998, issued the following statement back in August, publicly reassuring the Glazer family that he would welcome the opportunity to talk to them about a potential takeover.
“If the club is up for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer,” the statement said.
How likely is this to happen?
The announcement came in response to a previous report that suggested the Glazers were considering selling a minority stake in the club.
According to further reporting from onceRatcliffe, 69, would be interested in a minority stake with a view to gaining full control of Manchester United.

Manchester United’s previous ownership report from Bloombergsuggested that the Glazers could ask for up to $6 billion for a complete takeover.
Just this summer, Chelsea became the most expensive sports club/franchise in the world ever sold. American businessman Todd Boly paid $3.1 million to acquire the Blues from Roman Abramovich.
What was the reaction of the fans?
Manchester United Fans Confidence has released the following statement regarding Ratcliffe’s comments as they are quite cautious about this potential takeover having heard it all before many times.

Striped Lester fails again; Their four losses in a row are two losses from a miserable six-game streak suffered earlier this season.
The Foxes are particularly unhappy that the last two failures have come at Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
Brighton won’t be too worried about winning three of four for Roberto De Zerbi after returning from the World Cup break. The only loss was a 4–2 loss to Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Key storylines and star players
New star defender Vought Face scored two own goals against his teammates in this four-game losing streak as only Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored against Leicester. Jamie Vardy hasn’t scored since October, and James Maddison’s absence was evident in almost every game.
Brighton could have the stamina in the race for Europe as Leicester, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Fulham don’t have a clearly superior club against them in this series. Kaoru Mitoma continues to impress the Brightonians, who have so far resisted the urge to cash in on Moises Caicedo and others. Leandro Trossart, however, may soon leave the city, although De Zerbi has left the door open for reconciliation.
