South Carolina defeats Lady Vols in SEC championship game

Tennessee (23-11, 13-3 SEC) failed to hand South Carolina (32-0, 16-0 SEC) their first loss of the season on Sunday in the Southeastern Conference tournament championship game.

South Carolina defeated the Lady Vols, 74–58, at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Gamecocks won their seventh conference tournament title in nine years.

South Carolina led, 21-19, late in the first quarter. The Gamecocks opened the second quarter 10-2 and were 37-31 up at halftime.

Jordan Horston led the Lady Vols with 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Ricky Jackson had 17 points, nine rebounds and two assists for Tennessee.

Zia Cook led the Gamecocks with 24 points. Alia Boston scored 18 points and Camilla Cardoso scored 12 of her 13 points in the second half. for South Carolina.
