Steph Curry, MVP of the NBA Finals won by the Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics, assured that this title “is different”, for the emotional load that he and his companions lived in the last three years.
“These recent times have been marked by emotional ups and downs. And you fight to crown that dream, as we did tonight. It gives me goosebumps thinking about everything we went through. This title is different because of everything we went through to be here again.”Curry said at the TD Garden postgame news conference.
“This year there was speculation, it was said that we were older, and that weighs you down. And in the end, when you get to the finish line and win, you think about the weight we’ve been carrying since 2019.”
The Warriors conquered the seventh title of its history, the fourth in the last eight years, winning the Finals 4-2 against the Celtics.
Curry guided this Thursday’s win with 34 points, six triples, seven rebounds and seven assists, and was voted Finals MVP for the first time in his career.
“Who we are matters more than what others say about us,” Curry said.
The veteran also appeared at the press conference Andre Iguodalawho celebrated the fourth title of his career, as Curry, Klay Thompson y Draymond Green.
“We look forward to this title a lot. We won when we had Kevin Durant and they said it was not correct (because we had a too strong squad). Then we had a year in which we won fifteen games, the next we did not enter the ‘playoffs’, but we have a group and, more than anyone, with Steph”, said.
He also considered that Curry’s career affirms him as the “best shooting guard ‘shooter’ of all time”.
