Henrik Stenson continues to feel the consequences of his decision to join LIV Golf.

Two months after the 46-year-old Swede was stripped of his Ryder Cup captaincy the following year for signing with a Saudi-backed golf federation, Stenson’s home golf federation severed ties with Stenson and his foundation. The Swedish Golf Federation recently announced the end of its partnership with Stenson, who, as an ambassador, supported junior and paragolfer initiatives.

“We believe that Henrik, given his participation in LIV Golf, can no longer serve as a role model for Swedish young golfers,” said Gunnar Hakansson, general secretary of the Swedish federation.

Upon receiving the news, Stenson responded on social media: “Naturally we are disappointed that the SGF believes that our commitment and financial support through the Henrik Stenson Foundation is no longer needed, but this will in no way affect our commitment to developing junior and paragolf in Sweden. “.

However, one of Stenson’s LIV comrades was not as diplomatic when sharing his thoughts.

“What disappoints me the most is this news,” Ian Poulter wrote. “In fact, I hope that juniors/disabled people will express their opinion. I hope you regret this SGF.”
