Jenkins only participated in the first practice of training camp and has been on the sidelines since. A report this week indicated that the Bears are in trading talks for a 2021 second-round pick that has lagged behind the newcomer. Braxton Jones as well as Larry Borom in a competition to start work in Chicago.

While it looks like Jenkins may be leaving Chicago, head coach Matt Eberfluth said the undisclosed injury is the reason Jenkins is out of practice.

“Teven is in the group where he works with coaches, and he come back when he comes back,” Eberfluss said via ESPN.com’s Courtney Cronin.

Whatever the reason for Jenkins’ absence from the field, the result is that he is further behind in contention for the team’s offensive role this season. This could make the trade a welcome development for a player whose future with the Bears looked much brighter a year ago.
