On the June 27 edition of The Block, 247Sports analysts Carl Reid and Blake Brockermeier dived into the future dynamics between the QB Texas Longhorns. Quinn Evers and new Longhorns commits Arch Manning, do the Florida Gators have problems with training or not working, or both? — as they struggle to recruit in the first off-season under Billy Napier and the impact of outgoing Bill Clark had on UAB.

  • Arch Manning, who will enter Texas in 2023, can afford to wear the redshirt in what could be Quinn Euvers’ last season because “he doesn’t have to save his family financially,” Reed says. While Brockermeyer says he’s not ruling anything out when it comes to starting QB UT in 2023, it’s unlikely that Evers and Manning will face much friction.
  • After a disappointing recruiting weekend in Florida, little helped lift the Gators recruiting class to No. 39, Brockermeyer outlined the obvious for UF fans: “The days of picking schools to develop and win are over…these top players pick schools for the money. Reed agreed, pointing his finger at the NIL teams in Florida.
  • “Collegiate football needs more Bill Clark,” Reid says as Clarke, 53, retires from football due to health issues. Clark coached UAB in 2014, then spent three years rescuing the program from the inside as the school closed the program and then decided to reinstate it. The Blazers returned to the field in 2017 by winning the bowl game and then went on to a stunning 11–3 record in 2018 to win Conference-USA to break into the AP top 25 to win the bowl game.
