Welcome back football.

The Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders at the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, isn’t exactly an exciting matchup, but it’s football. Unless you’re really into the USFL, we haven’t seen football in a while.

Since this is football and there are betting lines, he will get some action. And this week there was quite a significant linear movement. The Jaguars were favorites by 1.5 points. at BetMGM on Tuesday. By Wednesday, the favorite flipped and the Raiders were -2.5. Total 30.5.

The amount is allocated because it is very low. This is ahead of the trend. Less has won seven of the last nine Hall of Fame games. Last year, the difference between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys was only 33 points. The Steelers won 16-3, comfortably trailing the total. Since very few, if any, newbies play in the Hall of Fame, this is usually not an offensive sight.

The Jaguars have already expelled Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne from the Hall of Fame Game, and it’s no surprise. Reserve quarterback CJ Beethard also suffered a minor injury, so Jake Luton will likely start as quarterback in Jacksonville. This is probably the main reason for the large movement of the line between Tuesday and Wednesday. Luton was drafted in the 2020 sixth round and started three games of the regular season as a rookie. He posted a meager 54.5 passer rating.

Many Jaguar rookies will sit or play in the series at best, because that’s how most teams approach Hall of Fame play. While the Raiders don’t have a complete game plan, it doesn’t look like they’re going to roll everything back.

“I’ve had many discussions like this over the years about what we should or shouldn’t be doing, which is too much or not enough to show,” new Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said. via Athletic. “I think it’s important for us to go out and let the players play and be aggressive.”

Neither team will take this too seriously. But this is football. And bet on football.

Here is a brief overview of sports betting for Thursday:

Big Series Braves-Mets

The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets are vying for the all-important #2 seed in the NL, with the Mets leading the race. But the Braves could cut the Mets’ lead in the NL East over the next four games during the Monster Series in New York. The Mets are small -120 favorites to start, and rightly so, but four days at Citi Field should be fun.

Numerous other MLB actions

There is one early start when the Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates meet at 12:35 pm ET. The Brewers are big -250 favorites but will be hard to bet on until we see how they react to the San Diego Josh Hader trade while Milwaukee was in first place by the NL Central. We meet the Los Angeles Dodgers at the San Francisco Giants in another afternoon game that is part of a fun list of 12 MLB games.

The Wyndham Championship golf tournament and two WNBA games also begin if baseball and a pre-season football game aren’t enough.

What’s the best bet?

It’s almost impossible to have a strong opinion about Hall of Fame play because most newbies won’t see the field. Although this is becoming the norm for most preseason games. I lean towards the Raiders on the side, mostly because they are a deeper team. Since both teams have new coaches, you’ll see the game has a more serious tone than most Hall of Fame games. The best bet on the game will be “over” not because there should be a lot of points, but 30.5 is very small. It won’t take long to get to 31.
