Home court advantage is usually a very big deal in the NBA playoffs, but going on the road hasn’t been an issue for the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics are 4-1 straight-up and 5-0 against the spread in road games this postseason, including a Game 6 triumph past the Milwaukee Bucks. That win forced a pivotal Game 7 and allowed Boston to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, which begin on Tuesday night against the Miami Heat.

The Heat, on the heels of beating the Philadelphia 76ers in six games, are 1.5-point favorites for Game 1 at BetMGM. The total opened at 206.5 but has since ticked down to 203.5.

Miami is 7-4 against the spread during the playoffs, including 5-1 at home. The only home game the Heat have not covered the spread this postseason was Game 5 of their first-round series with the Atlanta Hawks. In the other five games, the Heat have covered the spread by an average of 13.3 points.

As of Tuesday morning, most of the betting action on the spread has come in on Miami as a short favorite. According to BetMGM, 66% of the bets and 75% of the money is on the Heat -1.5. With the total, the betting is a bit more split with 53% of the bets and 60% of the money on the under.

With such a short line, most moneyline bets – 64% of the bets and 58% of the money – have been on Boston at +105.

Round 2 of NHL playoffs

After a flurry of Game 7 action over the weekend in both the NBA and NHL, we didn’t have either sport on the calendar on Monday.

Tuesday is a different story. In addition to the Eastern Conference Finals starting, Round 2 of the NHL playoffs is also underway with two series — the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Florida Panthers in the East and the St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche in the West.

The Panthers are -160 favorites for Game 1 and -155 to win the series at BetMGM. The Panthers beat the Washington Capitals in six games in the first round while the Lightning, the two-time reigning Stanley Cup champions, needed seven games to get past the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Avalanche, fresh off a first-round sweep over the Nashville Predators, are -225 favorites for Game 1 even bigger favorites (-350) for the series. In Round 1, the Blues fell behind the Minnesota Wild 2-1 before winning three straight to close out the series in six games.

Colorado is the current Cup favorite at BetMGM, listed at +200. The Panthers are next at +375 ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames at +550 and the Lightning at +650. Further down the list are the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers at +1400 and the Blues at +1600.

Massive MLB slate

Baseball fans will be busy on Tuesday with a whopping 18 games on the schedule, including three different doubleheaders – Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals, Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets.

The Mets, after a scorching start, had their streak of series victories come to an end by losing two of three at home to the Seattle Mariners over the weekend. Another hot team, the Houston Astros, lost Game 1 of their road series with the Boston Red Sox on Monday. The Astros had won 12 of their previous 13 games.

On Tuesday night, the Astros are slight underdogs (+100) at Fenway with the Red Sox as -120 favorites.
