While the rest of the United States cheers USA men’s national football team in Qatar, the people of Pennsylvania and New Jersey have much to rejoice at.
US men’s soccer linebacker Brenden Aaronson is a native of Medford, New Jersey and is on the USMNT squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Aaronson, a winger for English Premier League side Leeds United, attended Shawnee High School for one year before being selected to attend Philadelphia Union’s YSC Academy and went on to play for Bethlehem Steel FC and Union.
Aaronson is the second most expensive football player in the United States after his move from Red Bull Salzburg to Leeds United cost Leeds $30.2 million, that’s just behind Hershey, PA native and USMNT teammate Christian Pulisic, whose move from Borussia Dortmund Dortmund to Chelsea cost $65 million.
Pulisic, a forward for the US national football team, never made it to the local high school. After attending Central Dauphin High School, he joined the US Soccer U-17 residency program, attending classes and training.
Now you have even more reasons to cheer for Team USA in Qatar!
