The Ringer’s Super Bowl Predictions

Bell ringerThe NFL writers have made their choice for the Super Bowl. Who will be right on Sunday night?

Kevin Clark

Winner: Eagles
Score: 24-22
Most Valuable Player: Haason Reddick

I think Patrick Mahomes is the best player in football, so obviously he is the best player in this game. But I don’t think even he can fill a gap in those lists, especially if he’s limping. The Chiefs are the second-best football team this year, but the Eagles have elite offensive and defensive lines, and that’s what will matter on Sunday.

Sheil Kapadia

Winner: Eagles
Score: 27-25
MVP: Jalen Hurts

I have rolled over about 3,000 times in the last two weeks. There’s a scenario where Patrick Mahomes just cuts through the Eagles defense and the Chiefs weave long shot after long shot. But this season, the Eagles’ pass-rush has been very good. They don’t need to force a string of triple outs. They just need to come up with a few negative moves in high leverage situations. Offensively, they don’t need to rethink it. The offensive line has been the Eagles’ backbone all season and should have an advantage over the Chiefs’ defensive line. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles take a long shot and, after time runs out, score the game-winning field goal.

Nora Princiotti

Winner: Eagles
Score: 28-27?
MVP: Jalen Hurts

The last time the Eagles were in the Super Bowl, I remember watching the game and thinking that even though it was ridiculous to even think about drafting Nick Fowles against Tom Brady, Philadelphia were better in practice. in every position except quarterback. It looks like. It’s the rare Super Bowl where it makes sense to play against the top quarterback, but this is one of those times (and the gap isn’t as wide now as it was in 2017).

Roger Sherman

Winner: Eagles
Score: 34-31
MVP: Jalen Hurts

In fact, I spent the whole week switching my choices back and forth depending on whether I was interviewing people from the Chiefs or the Eagles. But I think Philadelphia does one more stop than KC.

Stephen Ruiz

Winner: Chiefs
Score: 34-27
Most Valuable Player: Patrick Mahomes

I pick a team that has Patrick Mahomes on it. Maybe it’s oversimplified, but I just think he’s playing at a level we’ve never seen an NFL quarterback. The Eagles are a great team. They would be worthy champions in any year. Their pass rush is about to break records and could put pressure on Mahomes for most of the game. I just don’t think it matters. This is not the 2021 version of Mahomes that got pissed off by the pirates. This is not the 2022 version that threw the game against Cincinnati into the playoffs. He’s got too many buttons to push and I think he’ll make enough games to lead Kansas City to a scoring win. I’ll take the Chiefs 34-27 and Mahomes will take home the MVP.

Danny Heifetz

Winner: Chiefs
Score: 34-30
Most Valuable Player: Patrick Mahomes

An underestimated aspect of this game is the huge disparity in the experience of these coaching staffs. Andy Reed was an NFL head coach for 24 years. Nick Sirianni of Philadelphia was the head coach for two years. We’re talking about a guy who’s been coaching since before the iPod was around, and a guy who’s been coaching since the iPhone 13. The guys running the Chiefs divisions, Reed and Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo, have both coached for a total of 81 years. The guys who run the Eagles division, offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, are 76 years old combined. Give me a coaching staff old enough to rock me on my knees and tell me about the war.

I’m left handed

Winner: Chiefs
Score: 34-31
Most Valuable Player: Patrick Mahomes

I’ve said this in almost every group I’ve joined, and now here for writing posterity and a possible screenshot to brag on Twitter: I think we’re in for a legendary game. I think I’ll tell my kids about it. Not because I’m old and want to tell my kids about when I was cool and did different things, but because they’ll hear about this game and want to know more about it. I think we are in for points, big draws, losses, a tense fourth quarter and winning moments. Can not wait.

Having said that: I choose the Chiefs. It’s 52-48, it’s true. I have small More faith in Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ passing game if they hit six with two minutes left than I believe in the Eagles’ passing game, which is almost an advantage. Give me Patrick Mahomes for Barn Burn MVP.

Danny Kelly

Winner: Chiefs
Score: 33-31
Most Valuable Player: Patrick Mahomes

I devoured every piece of content produced by the media leading up to the Super Bowl. I weighed all possible aspects with the help of analytics and feed. I have read thousands of words and listened to dozens of hours of podcasts on the subject. And after all this, I decided that the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes. With two weeks off, he’ll be able to move a bit more into it and get back to making ingenious, unstoppable off-structure plays – and Philadelphia will have too much to hold back.

Austin Gale

Winner: Chiefs
Score: 28-21
Most Valuable Player: Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes is the best player on the planet. He managed to take his game to a whole new level in 2022 and he is still right now approaching the pinnacle of his career. Quarterbacks on rookie contracts like Jalen Hurts are not cheat codes when building a roster; Mahomes, with his 10-year, $500 million contract, is the only cheat code in the NFL right now. The Hurts have also improved their game, and Eagles GM Howie Roseman has put together one of the best rosters and coaching staffs the league has to offer. But Philadelphia doesn’t have Mahomes, and that’s all that will matter on Sunday.
