Tiger Woods is back.
On Friday, Woods tweeted that he would return to PGA Tour competition next week at the Genesis Invitational. Woods hosts an annual tournament held at the Riviera Country Club outside of Los Angeles.
Woods has not played in a competitive round of golf since the 2022 UK Open. He last played in a minor tournament at the 2020 Zozo Championship in China. He suffered a career-breaking leg injury in a car accident while driving from the 2021 Genesis Invitational.
The first round of the Genesis Invitational will begin on February 16th.
Since the crash in 2021, Woods has played in three tournaments, all of them major ones. He finished 47th at the Masters in 2022. He qualified for the subsequent PGA Championship but withdrew after being left with 12 overs in the tournament in Saturday’s nine-over round. Throughout the tournament, he was clearly in pain as he walked on his injured right leg.
Woods then missed a cut in July during an emotional performance at the British Open in what was likely his last at St Andrews. He did not play at the US Open in June.
