Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State were among the other offers for Hurley, who was fresh at the university as an eighth grader.

“My hiring process has been great,” Hurley said. “This is a small part of my overall football journey, which has been amazing – a real blessing.

“I won two state titles, was named Florida Player of the Year, First Team State, and received several awards and honors, so I am honored, humble and grateful, and I give glory to God, and I have so many people who i give thanks. My parents, coaches, teachers, coaches and everyone who supported and believed in me. I would also be remiss if I didn’t thank and acknowledge the many coaches and programs that hired me. I am grateful to all of them.”

Hurley is ranked 6th by LSU in the class of 2024, with the 247Sports Composite ranked 4th.

“Let’s talk about LSU and Baton Rouge. Ever since I first got to the campus, it has been special.
I got in touch with the staff. Coach Kelly, Coach Sloan, Coach Denbrock, Jordan Arcement, John Belton, Destiny Wilson… they are all great people. They have always been available to me. Story program. They play SPC. I also love the Baton Rouge community and feel like I fit into it.

“It wasn’t about something other programs didn’t do, because they were all amazing. I am very grateful to all the other coaches who hired me. I want to thank them and I owe them all the respect in the world. It’s really about what LSU did. They did everything right. I want LSU and Baton Rouge to know that I’m very excited to be there and fully expect to have a national championship there.

“I want to be trained hard. I want to compete. I want to learn. I want to develop. I want to lead. I want to win. I feel like I’m getting it all at LSU.”

Hurley was ranked 3rd in the 2025 quarterbacks rankings.
