Saints Thomas and Winston on the mend

It’s been a little over a week since Michael Thomas (ankle) returned to training after a short stint on the pup list to start camp. The Saints wide receiver is beginning to look like his former All-Pro as the team advances his record. Multiple Reports from New Orleans Friday say Thomas showing off his trademark physical form during one-on-one meetings, and head coach Dennis Allen told reporters after practice that he expected the veteran to take part in team practice soon. A healthy Thomas builds a strong WR corps for the Saints, who signed Jarvis Landry and drafted Chris Olav in the first round this offseason; veterans Tre’Quan Smith and Marques Callaway provide quality depth, while Alvin Camara offers hands off the field. But an intriguing passing attack depends on the status of another recovery with quarterback Jameis Winston coming out of an ACL tear. This was announced by NFL Network insider Jan Rapoport. Inside training camp live Friday that Winston is “about where the Saints want him to be,” despite the fact that he has yet to regain the mobility of his former self. Rapoport cited Joe Burrow’s anterior cruciate ligament recovery last season as a similar situation where QB Bengals didn’t get their legs back until about a month into the 2021 season. If Thomas and Winston return to where they once were, the Saints offense has a lot of potential to maintain its prowess after the departure of Sean Payton.

The Jets won’t call him Sauce just yet.

This season, the Jets will make rookie quarterback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner earn his infamous nickname. “We told him if he got two 6s in preseason, we could give him the Sauce,” veteran linebacker CJ Mosley said. Inside training camp live. “And that should be against 1 too, so no 2s, 3s, backups and all that. It’s more than likely that we’ll start calling him Sauce when he’s shown his big game in the regular season.” Robert Saleh also takes part in the team’s initiative, meanwhile referring to him as “AG”. The Jets head coach told reporters on Friday that he likes what he has seen so far of the No. 4 overall pick. “He has a mindset and a chip on his shoulder. I’ve never seen a newbie talk so much rubbish, but that’s good,” Saleh said. “He is an interesting young man. I like where he is mentally. He still has a long way to go in terms of understanding the game and everything else, but he’s a sponge and absorbs everything.” Accession ITC live after Mosley reveals the team’s goal setting activities, Gardner is happy to get them back. “This is what I want — that’s how it was in Qingxi,” he said. “I wouldn’t have had any other choice.
