John Rahm entered the US Open this week as the defending champion. While that title has not yet been stolen from him, his golf ball suffered a different fate during the first round on Thursday.
While on the 18th hole at The Country Club, a Spanish golfer saw his tee shot go left and the ball landed under the TV tower. As he headed towards this place, Ram saw two young men pick up the ball and run away with it.
World number 2 kept his cool and got a free drop. He had a free lane and hit a new ball within 21 feet of the 18th hole. Ram then made a successful birdie which helped him finish the day 1-69.

The situation was taken lightly and Ram didn’t even attach importance to the situation, saying that he knew what the thieves looked like because they weren’t very tricky when they ran away with his ball.
“I’m pretty sure I know who it was,” Ram said with a laugh after his rounds. “I recognized two children who were running in the opposite direction with a smile on their face. I am 100% sure that I saw two children who stole it.”
