Nassurdin Imavov will face new fighter Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Fights at the UFC Apex are being streamed on Sportzshala+, with the main card at 7:00 pm ET followed by prelims at 4:00 pm.

Both fighters usually compete in middleweight – Strickland is #9 on Sportzshala – but this fight will be in light heavyweight because Strickland was only invited this week after Imavov’s original opponent, Kelvin Gastelum, pulled out on Monday from the wound.

Strickland (25-5) fought just three weeks ago at the 2022 UFC Finals, losing a split decision to Jared Cannonier for his second loss in a row. According to Sportzshala statistics and information, he will be the first fighter to take part in the main event of UFC cards in a row since Tito Ortiz in 2004 and 2005.

Imavov (12-3) won three fights in a row, the last of which was a unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley in September.

Betting advice from Ian Parker

Strickland is recovering from a close decision loss to Jared Cannonier, and to get back into the winning column, he must pick up the pace and move forward with punches. If he continues to sit on his back foot and jab while stepping back, he will lose another decision. For Imavov, this is an opportunity to rise in the competition and get a resounding victory on his resume. Imavov was preparing for the main event of five rounds against Gastelum, who is a technical striker with good grappling and good cardio. I think Imavov’s shot is just as good if not better than Strickland’s and he will be able to take advantage of Strickland’s lack of aggression and swiftness.
