Charles Oliveira was a man on a mission at UFC 274.

Oliveira was stripped of his lightweight title when he lost 0.5 pounds in his title fight against Justin Gaethje at the Footprint Center in Phoenix in May, which only spurred him on.

Oliveira had no right to remain champion after the victory, but the Brazilian, in spite of everything, got to work. He met Gaethje right in the middle and took him downstairs. Oliveira swallowed some hard kicks, but hit his body hard with his knees, continuing to press.

But Gaethje was able to knock Oliveira down with an uppercut and strike with a right hand, after which he swayed. Oliveira tried to lure Gaethje down to earth, but the Punchline acted wisely. Despite numerous injuries, Oliveira remained unfazed. He eventually found room for a strong right hand that dropped Gaethje and he was able to cut him on the ground before he took him down with a rear naked choke in the 1st round.

Oliveira (33-8 MMA, 21-8 UFC) will return to action on October 22 when he takes on Islam Makhachev (22-1 MMA, 11-1 UFC) for the vacant lightweight title in the main event of UFC 280 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Before he meets Makhachev, remember how Oliveira finished off Gaethje in the video above.
