Jack Della Maddalena has continued his reign of terror since joining the UFC roster, landing another brutal knockout on Saturday.
Australian welterweight who joined the promotion through Dana WhiteChallenge Seriesquickly dealt with Danny Roberts with a series of brilliant punches and scored his third consecutive first-round knockout in the octagon at UFC Vegas 65.
The official stoppage came at 3:24 of the first round after Della Maddalena hit Roberts with a left hook and then just opened up a flurry of punches until his opponent collapsed to the canvas in a heap.
With this win, Della Maddalena hopes to organize her next fight much closer to home.
“Every challenge is unique,” Della Maddalena later said. “I am ready to go home to Australia and fight another fight in Perth. Honestly [I’ll fight] anyone. The first person they give me, I’ll say yes and I’ll be on my way.”
Before he even finished, Della Maddalena started off Roberts when he came out aggressively and started the knockout hunt from the first exchange.
While Roberts did his best to hold on tight, Della Maddalena reveled in discovery with destructive force unleashed on body and head. Della Maddalena also used all of his weapons, including a knee strike that nearly ended Roberts’ night.
In the final episode, Della Maddalena simply moved forward before delivering the punch that started the finishing phase as Roberts simply couldn’t match the strength the Australian had shown.
It remains to be seen who the UFC will give him next, but Della Maddalena appears ready to compete in the top 15 rankings, though the opportunity to fight in his native Australia is probably more important to him than anything else right now.
