The North Carolina women’s basketball program will be launched. action thursday as they compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.
UNC ended the regular season with a 20-9 overall record. Seven of those nine losses came to the ACC, where they finished 11-7.
North Carolina enters the ACC tournament as the seventh seed. Despite being low seeded, it says more about how strong the conference is than UNC’s play this season. UNC not only beat the first place in the Notre Dame tournament, but also beat the third seed Duke Blue Devils.
North Carolina has been seeded high enough that they don’t need to play Wednesday as they wait for the Clemson/Pitt winner.
North Carolina will be at full strength ahead of the postseason, with star player Alyssa Ootsby returning to the roster. Ootsby led the Tar Heels in rebounding this season, averaging 8.7 rebounds. In addition, star guard Deja Kelly led the team in points this season, averaging 16.5 points.
