Offensive tackle Top247 Herbie Lambert has a long list of suitors but remains quiet in recruiting with limited campus visits, but over the winter colleges flocked to West Roxbury, Massachusetts, Catholic Memorial to test him out.
At 6’6″ and weighing 300 pounds, Lambert ranks #1 on the list of colleges in Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Notre Dame, Miami, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Boston, among many other schools.
After seeing him play in the fall and breaking down his senior record, the following scouting report was added to his 247Sports profile:
Has a verified size with a wingspan of plus six inches. Carries 300 pounds like it’s 270. Preferred multisport profile, throwing shot put.
Athletic physique is combined with athleticism on the field. The ability to bend and move through space was impressive during personal testing in the 2022 season. Physical and masculine strength surpassed the competition in New England. Shoots well in the flick and drops the hips well to consistently win shoulder battles despite the size difference against high school players.
Often blocks and goes to the defender. Impressive leg speed allows him to keep his balance. Placement of hands sequentially inside. Excellent drive blocker when turned on. Has footwork and the ability to pull. Excellent body control shows when blocking in space. It is extremely difficult for defenders to get out of the battle.
A great blocking down that shows the strength of the lower body and the way he drives after contact. He can usually be seen finishing blocks 20 yards from the field. Powerful and fast with a kick start. Can clear and go to the second level. Demonstrates the ability to slide with the feet and use the length to go over the edge at speed.
You need to work on copying the defender more consistently and not relying so heavily on athleticism and length. Must continue to develop upper body strength. Sometimes interrupts the game by leaning back before clicking. Continuous development of the kick-step and staying patient on the base in the pro’s passing is very important. General technique needs development in Pass Pro. Can be elite-level college offensive equipment. Has the talent and potential for an early round NFL draft pick.
Herbie didn’t frequent the club that fall, but still made it to Boston College for a game against Clemson.
He is the No. 4 offensive player and No. 1 Massachusetts player ranked by 247Sports, and the No. 2 offensive player in the industry-created 247Sports Composite.
