The dream is over. The participation of the US men’s team in the 2026 World Cup ended on Saturday with a valiant defeat by the Netherlands with a score of 3: 1. The Americans looked sharp early, had their chances, but gave up too much on the defensive, finishing the first half with a score of 2:0. But it was another encouraging performance that gives hope for this young, hungry team to move forward.

But how did they all play? Here are our player rankings, and while you’re at it, sign up for our new newsletter highlighting the great game in all its glory, including daily World Cup news, here.

It wasn’t his best game, but it’s hardly his fault. Of course, in this game he conceded more than in the previous three combined, but this is due to the fact that the defense did not show the proper result. He had some good shots, but his positioning on the first two goals could have been better. However, he is still #1 going forward.

Guilty of the second goal, obviously allowing Daley Blind to run to a beautiful ball and finish it off with ease. He is a protector, but can barely defend himself. Does what he offers on offense outweigh his shortcomings on defense? Sometimes, but not today. There were some decent moments in attack, but the end result wasn’t good enough. Although he had one good clearance in front of the gate.

He had some solid tackles and clearances, returned the ball a lot and occasionally got into Memphis Depay’s box. He even tried to kick a belated bike. But he came back in XI and did well.

At 35, he really stood out like a rock from behind. He won’t surprise you, but he was always strong and didn’t make a lot of mistakes. That’s really all you can ask for in this team’s weak position.

One of the tournament players for USMNT. His crosses on this occasion weren’t all that great, but he was often the one to bring the ball back and get it across the field. But his game will be remembered for allowing Denzel Dumfries to score the third goal at the back post, sitting completely unnoticed.

This was the first game of the tournament in which Adams did not shine brightly. The Dutchman’s passage was so efficient and fast that he was never really able to react and stop them. He is also to blame for the first goal, as Depay went past him and ended up completely unnoticed for his well scored goal.
