On Monday morning, Georgia Tech fired head football coach Jeff Collins and athletic director Todd Stansbury. The news spread around Atlanta and college football clubs.
Jeff Collins, who was reportedly out the door on Sunday, was officially fired on Monday, two days after losing 27-10 to the UCF. The Yellow Vests had a 10-28 record at Georgia Tech with Collins at the helm.
Brent Key, Collins’ assistant head coach, has been named interim head coach but has no intention of remaining as coach after this season.
Alex Grinch, defense coordinator at USC, is expected to be the candidate who can get the job. Yes, he will most likely take the job at Arizona State instead of Tech if offered, but the Grinch name will still be in the 10-15 nominations.
The Yellow Vests are No. 24 in Pittsburgh on Saturday and they still have a busy ACC schedule, and will be No. 1 on the road later this year in Georgia.
