There were several commits in town this weekend for Friday Night Lights camp in Florida and the quarterback was recently flipped. Marcus Stokes got a chance to show his hand.
Stokes served as quarterback for some of the one-on-one training sessions given by camp visitors. He hooked up with five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who was ranked 11th in 247Sports’ 2024 composite rankings, for a big game, and the video quickly went viral on social media.
On July 7, the Gators kicked Stokes out of Penn State, and it’s easy to see why Billy Napier wanted him so badly. The rising senior launched the ball from the logo around the 50-yard line into the end zone and hit Smith on the move.
All alligatorsZach Goodall got a great view of the pass and was able to tweet it the next day.

There was a point where it looked like Florida might have to drop the quarterback in the class of 2023. Napier then flipped Stokes, and he’s only been impressed ever since, both on the field and on his recruiting journey. His senior year will be one to keep an eye on, but it’s good to see him already making big games in the Swamp.
The Gators will add another elite defense to the 2023 class.
