Where Michigan football ranks in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll before Ohio State

It was a wobbly Saturday in Ann Arbor when Blake Corum went down with a knee injury late in the first half against Illinois, and although Michigan’s football defense uncharacteristically deteriorated in the second half, the Wolverines found a way to win.

Luckily for the Corn and Blues, when it comes to rankings, none of the other teams around them were particularly dominant in their week 12 matchup.

Georgia won just 10 over Kentucky, Ohio didn’t delay the game in Maryland until the final seconds thanks to TD’s fumble, TCU beat Baylor just like Michigan did, Tennessee dominated by South Carolina, and USC was in a shootout with UCLA.

Michigan still only has one win that would be considered quality. penn state, which lost only to the Wolverines and the Deer this year. So, how do college football coaches see the situation after a tumultuous 12th week?

In the latest USA TODAY Athletic Coaches Poll, the Wolverines finished 3rd, with next week’s opponent Ohio State ranked 2nd. The University of Pennsylvania ranked 10th.
