Why did Ben Affleck (who met Michael Jordan at The Grove XXIII) say that ‘golf is like meth?’

Ben Affleck is filming a new film called “Air”. This is the story of how the Michael Jordan family and Nike executives turned Jordan into a revolutionary brand and sneaker.

Affleck plays former Nike CEO Phil Knight.

Before making the film, Affleck wanted Jordan’s blessing, so he asked for a meeting. No wonder Jordan invited Affleck to his The Grove XXIII golf course in Hobe Sound, Florida.

“Went out, met him,” Affleck said. told The Hollywood Reporter. “I was waiting for him to finish playing. I don’t play golf myself. Because I just feel like it’s eating into people’s lives.

“I look at golf like methamphetamine. They have better teeth, but it doesn’t look like people ever get out of it. Once they start playing golf, you never see them again.”

Viola Davis will play Jordan’s mother, while Matt Damon, Chris Tucker and Jason Bateman will play Nike executives.

Air opens in theaters on May 5th.

The story originally appeared on GolfWeek.
