GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Warriors up the mountain again Stephen Curry paved the way. The Warriors defeated the Celtics 103–90 in Game 6 of the Finals to become the fourth NBA champion in the last eight seasons.

  • Curry had 34 points, seven rebounds and seven assists en route to his goal. first career Finals MVP.
  • Andrew Wiggins completed an outstanding playoff with 18 points, while Draymond Green did a little bit of everything with 12 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks.
  • Jordan Pool added 15 points off the bench.
  • Warriors are the first team with four titles in eight seasons since the Bulls won six titles in 1991–98..

Two seasons ago, the Warriors were the worst team in the league. They didn’t make the playoffs last season. Clay Thompson During this time he was seriously injured. Curry and Green have also dealt with injuries. To put it mildly, it was ugly.

But the challenges of the past three years – and how close this trio of stars – make this title so special for Golden StateNBA expert Colin Ward-Henninger writes.

  • Ward-Henninger: “The trio of three historically unique players who complement each other on the court in ways that paralyze opponents have also achieved an off-court balance that has allowed them to rise, thrive and persevere over the past 10 seasons. All selected in the draft. Warriors. Everyone carries a chip on their shoulder because of their position in the draft and countless other reasons, both rational and contrived. Most importantly, all with an insatiable, uncanny longing to compete and win.”

As the main trio of the Warriors dynasty turned 30 years old, it was reasonable to wonder if the team’s dazzling successes were a thing of the past. We had no idea that they were re-equipping and reloading – with the arrival of Wiggins, the appearance of Poole and the opening Gary Payton II — perhaps for their most remarkable and unexpected name.

However, I can’t stop thinking about Curry, who was brought to tears in the final moments of the game. Steve Kerr named him Curry “The crowning achievement in what was already an incredible career.” I agree. He was great in games 1-3, but Golden State was still trailing in the series 2-1. Then he was otherworldly—perhaps his best Finals game—in Game 4. The Celtics made a serious mistake by not taking advantage of his rough Game 5 because he came back and buried them in Game 6, like a player of his caliber should.

And now Curry is finally Finals MVP and the Warriors are world champions again. Oh and they are favorites to win next yeartoo much.

And not such a good morning for…

BOSTON CELTICS

Summary:

  • In Game 4, the Celtics were in the lead with five minutes remaining. Then they broke up.
  • In Game 5, the Celtics were leading at the end of the third quarter. Then they broke up.
  • In Game 6, the Celtics took an early lead and looked like they were ready to force Game 7. Then they fell apart… in historical fashion.

There are two areas that ultimately doomed the Celtics to the Finals.

  • Fights in close games: Boston was 21 points behind in the fourth quarter of the last three games.
  • Careless, unforced errors: Boston was 1-8 this postseason with 15+ assists.

While it’s easy to assume that the Celtics will return given their young core, it’s never smart to make such assumptions. Yes, Boston is very, very good. Yes, it was an outstanding season. But in professional sports, things change quickly.

Eastern Conference loaded. The Celtics will likely be rivals for years to come, but they will regret the missed chance this year. You never know how many chances you will get.

One month left before the 2022 MLB draftand orioles‘ Choice No. 1 remains wide open. Our MLB pundit Mike Axis takes on Baltimore son of a seven-time All-Star in his last draft.

  • Axis: “Rumor has it that Baltimore has narrowed down its No. 1 pick preference to five players: Jackson Holliday (Matt’s son), Cal Poly shortstop Brooks Leebatsman L.S.U. Jacob Berryand high school outfielders Drew Jones (son of Andrew) and Elijah Green. With the field so wide open, a portfolio approach seems likely and Holliday is a worthy bet to take a trade below the slot because he could fall to No. 7 or 8 if he doesn’t become No. 1.”

Here are the top five:

  • 1. Orioles: S.S. Jackson Holliday, Stillwater H.S.
  • 2. Diamondbacks: Drew Jones, Wesleyan H.S.
  • 3 Rangers: Elijah Green, IMG Academy
  • 4 Pirates: SS Brooks Lee, Cal Poly
  • 5. Nationals: C Kevin Parada, Georgia Institute of Technology
