Williams will enter the 2023 season with a largely unchanged color scheme despite the arrival of new partner Gulf.
There was speculation that the team would draw heavily on Gulf sponsorship for its livery, similar to the unique design McLaren used at the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix.
However, the Gulf image on the car is limited to a logo in front of the cab, while the familiar blue, black and red colors of last year’s Williams have been retained.
Under the paintwork, Williams hopes to make significant progress in the evolution of its aerodynamic concept by 2023, though the new car won’t be unveiled until it hits the track for filming at Silverstone on Feb. 13.
Revealing its 2023 livery on Monday, Williams teased some of the new car’s aerodynamic changes.
“The floor edges were raised to comply with the updated 2023 FIA Technical Regulations and the team took the opportunity to significantly improve the side support concept, made possible by optimizing the powertrain cooling circuit. Changes were also made to the front suspension. layout, as well as the main external aerodynamic surfaces.
“As a result, the FW45 is more aerodynamically efficient than the FW44, with more overall downforce and improved handling characteristics.”
Williams enters the new season with American rookie Logan Sargent joining Alex Albon as the team’s drivers, with new team principal James Vowles arriving from Mercedes on February 20th.
“As Williams Racing continues its transformation, we are proud to present this year’s livery,” said Matthew Savage, chairman of Williams parent company Dorilton. “We are thrilled with this year’s car and I cannot thank the entire Grove team for their hard work preparing for the season.
“I am delighted to welcome both new and existing partners on our journey. With our new team principal James Woles joining us later this month, as well as our exciting roster of drivers Alex and Logan, Williams Racing will go all out in 2023. .”
