After more than two weeks of exciting action leading up to the Beijing 2022 Olympics, only a day of competition remains. Team USA, currently trailing fourth place Germany (22) by one and third place Canada (24) by three in the medal tally, will fight for the podium in speed skating and figure skating on Saturday before announcing these Games to wind down.
The biggest victory for the Americans on Friday was won by someone from the Chinese team. Freestyle skier Eileen Gu, who grew up in San Francisco with her mother and Chinese grandmother, won gold in the women’s halfpipe event, bringing the 18-year-old’s total medal count to three in Beijing. Previously at these Games, Goo had won gold in big air and silver in freeski slopestyle.
In other Friday news, the US men’s curling team failed to make it to the podium after losing to Canada in the bronze medal match. Sweden and Great Britain will meet in the match for gold on Saturday at 23:00.
Here is the schedule for Team USA’s final day of competition.
Team USA Schedule – Saturday, February 19th.
- Mass start of men’s and women’s speed skating – 2 am.
