Pablo Sarabia and Manor Solomon traded goals as Wolverhampton and Fulham played in an evasive 1-1 draw with moments of talent and class at Craven Cottage on Friday.
Raul Jiménez scored Sarabia’s goal in the 23rd minute as Wolverhampton approached Fulham early and often on the cottagers’ left wing, but it was USMNT star Anthony Robinson who passed the ball to Solomon on the same side of the field to equalize. score just after the hour mark.

The game was close to an even distribution of possession and shots, with neither team scoring the expected goal in 90 minutes, but Wolverhampton probably did enough to earn what would have been a solid away win if not for a right Solomon’s boot.
That point puts Fulham in 39th place of the season, two behind Newcastle and three behind the top four, but the Cottagers have played two to three more games than the teams surrounding them in the table. Fulham are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions.
Wolves bounced back from a shocking home defeat to Bournemouth and gave them seven points out of 12 ahead of a mid-week trip to Liverpool. Their 24 points are good for 15th place, four points more than the bottom three, and Julen Lopetegui will feel he could rightfully steer the Wolves away from relegation in a couple of game days.

Wolves on the rise as the cottagers glide
Fulham have been good this season and started this game with a good run, but did they think Julen Lopetegui’s Wolves would lose?
The Cottagers found no footing in this matchup for a while, as Lopetegui and the club’s increasingly comfortable transfers served as a good mat and really brought the room – or Molineux – together.
Raul Jimenez looks a little more like Raul Jimenez with Pablo Sarabia to his right, while Mario Lemina and Craig Dawson also work shifts on that side of the pitch.
Add to that a stunning late save by José Sa as Fulham try to surprise and you have a Wolves team feeling more confident for the new season in the Premier League.
Luckily for Fulham, Marco Silva has indeed found a great recipe in his back four (left->right) in Anthony Robinson, Tim Rome, Issa Diop and Kenny Tete. We have a lot of experience in the Premier League in the middle, as well as in industry and the power industry.

Nelson Semedo: He barely got the wrong foot on the ball and, miraculously, he found it with 10 rebounds in 90 minutes on the right wing covering Willian (but there were occasional problems with Robinson and Solomon, including a Fulham goal).
Anthony Robinson: While the Wolves attacked Robinson (and Tim Rome) early, they had few responses to his speed even with Semedo.
Solomon’s Manor: It will be difficult for Solomon to become a super-replacement, since his goals are most likely aimed at him becoming a starter at some point.
Ruben Neves: In what percentage of Wolves games was he the best linebacker on the field for any team? Half? The 25 year old is a force.

Wolves receive Liverpool at Anfield at 3pm ET on Wednesday.

Key storylines and players in good shape to keep an eye on
Fulham’s success was based on the strength of the defense, and two USMNT players, Tim Rome and Anthony Robinson, played a key role in this. Bernd Leno was a great goalkeeper, while midfielders Joao Paliña and Harrison Reed defended well, and then Willian and Andreas Pereira supported Alexander Mitrovic superbly. However, Mitro may be out for this game as he continues to struggle with injuries.
Wolves have so many talented players that it’s a real headache why they’re fighting at the wrong end of the table. Lopetegui made them well organized defensively, but they just don’t know how to miss chances. They should start doing this if they want to stay out of trouble as they have a really tough stretch of games ahead of them.
