Women’s boxing divisional rankings: Shadasia Green moves up; Amanda Serrano and Alycia Baumgardner keep top spots

Shadasia Green has spent years waiting for this moment, and on Saturday, much of her future began to become clear. The super middleweight had perhaps the most impressive performance of the entire card at the Hulu Theater in New York, stopping former IBF and WBA super middleweight champion Elin Cederroos in the sixth round.

It was a showcase fight for Green (12-0, 11 KOs), who has now stopped her last nine opponents to become the WBC Mandatory Challenger for Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn, who was in attendance.

Green rises to 2nd in the division just behind Crus-Dezurn while Cederroos remains in 4th, mostly because she is still the best fighter in the division that lacks depth.

In the co-main event, the first of two undisputed title shots, Alicia Baumgardner (14-1, 7 KOs) defeated Elhem Mekhaled to remain in first place in the 130-pound division. But Mekhaled’s performance (15-2, 3 KOs) was bright enough to lift her up the rankings even after her loss, finishing in 5th place and ousting former WBA champion Hyun-Mi Choi.

Only two defeats in Mekhaled’s career were inflicted on fighters numbered 1 and 4 in the division – Baumgardner and Delfina Persun.

In the main event, Amanda Serrano fought Erica Cruz to take a decision victory to become the undisputed featherweight champion. Serrano (44-2-1, 30 KOs) clearly won the fight, but a great performance by Cruz (15-2, 3 KOs) keeps her in second place in the division.

While Serrano is set to take on Kathy Taylor next April, few will be upset to see a future rematch between Serrano and Cruz due to the fast-paced and entertaining fight.

Sky Nicholson at Featherweight and Ramla Ali at Super Featherweight also performed well, especially Ali who is on the cusp of the top five in her division, which is one of the most crowded in the sport.

On Saturday in Germany, Oshin Deriuv (19-0, 7 KOs) continued her dominance by stopping France’s Elena Bravo when she (23-6-2, 13 KOs) failed to advance to the eighth round of their fight. At the time of the stoppage, Deriu was up 70-63 on all three scorecards. Derjeux, 35, remains an intriguing 140-pound fighter and a potential future challenger for undisputed champion Shantel Cameron.

Also on Saturday in Argentina, former three-division world champion Daniela Bermudez fought for the first time in almost two years when Bermudez (30-4-3, 10 KOs) beat Lilian Dolores Silva (4-16-1). junior bantamweight bout. Silva last won a fight in 2017. It was Bermudez’s debut in the weight class, and if she wants to fight there, it is possible that by the end of the year she will be in the top five of Sportzshala.

Ratings will be updated every Tuesday. They will be based on recent fights, head-to-heads and opponent quality. As with almost everything, until the fighters fight each other, there is a layer of subjectivity in this. Fighters who have not fought for 18 months and have no scheduled fights will be removed from the rankings until they fight again.
