Belgium, Canada, Croatia and Morocco make up a World Cup group that can lead to any combination of playoff entries, even if there is a true favorite.

The loaded Belgium of Roberto Martínez, ranked 2nd in the world by FIFA, will have every chance of qualifying from Group F of the 2022 World Cup, and Kevin de Bruyne is able to put on his Ballon d’Or mantle thanks to a strong individual and team performance.

Host Qatar battles Ecuador as the 2022 World Cup kicks off on Sunday with excitement and intrigue rampant.

Qatar will play in the World Cup for the first time.

Qatar holds the hopes of the entire nation, and despite being third in the lowest-ranked tournament, the host country has performed well in recent years. They won the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 and reached the Gold Cup semi-finals in 2021.

As for Ecuador, they have an impressive crop of young players such as Moises Caicedo, Purvis Estupinan (both in Brighton) and José Cifuentes are some of the rising stars. Qatar has been led by Spanish coach Felix Sanchez since 2017 and their entire team plays in the domestic league. They are a close-knit group and five of their World Cup team have played over 100 matches as they prepare for their first ever World Cup appearance. Qatar captain Hassan Al-Haidos has an incredible 169 caps and the Al-Saad star has 36 international goals. Almoez Ali and Akram Afif are also dangerous at the top, while Abdulaziz Hatem is a midfield star.

For Ecuador, the above young band is extremely talented, but Enner Valencia is the main man of La Tri. He scored 35 goals in 74 matches and is having a sensational season with Turkish giants Fenerbahce, scoring 13 goals in 12 league matches. Getting out of World Cup qualification in South America is a huge achievement and Ecuador is not to be underestimated. They reached the round of 16 of the 2006 World Cup and have qualified for four of the last six tournaments.
