Tiger Woods competed in his first PGA Tour event as a 16-year-old amateur at the Los Angeles Open. He currently hosts what is now known as the Genesis Invitational.
But despite 14 appearances at this tournament, the Sunday trophy was never achieved.
Woods never won that tournament, coming closest to losing a playoff to Billy Mayfair in 1998 at Valencia Country Club (moved because the Riviera hosted the 1998 Senior US Open) and finishing second the following year at the Riviera. He will return to competition at the scheduled event next week, his first non-major PGA Tour start since the 2020 Zozo Championship.
